The Moorhead Police Department is excited to once again host a Citizen's Police Academy open to the public.
The Moorhead Police Department is proud of its commitment to working with citizens to create a quality of life in Moorhead of which we can all be proud. To do this effectively, it is important for citizens to understand the policies, procedures and protocol of the police department as well as what it is like to be the men and women sworn to protect and serve this community. It is equally important for the Moorhead Police Department to learn about the concerns and needs of the citizens they serve. The CPA is a great way for that to happen!
The Citizens Police Academy starts Thursday, October 4th, 2007 and runs 6-9 pm for 10 weeks. During the academy, participants will be:
- Processing a mock crime scene
- Shooting a gun
- Participating in traffic stops
- Learning about crimes against children and Internet crime
- Watching a demonstration of the skills of our K9 officers
Participants will also learn about:
- Computer crimes
- Use of force and officer safety concerns
- How the Patrol Division works
- Special programs offered by the Moorhead Police Department
- DWI arrests
- ...and much more
The Citizens Police Academy promises to be informative and fun, with lots of hands-on opportunities.
The program is open to anyone in the community age 18 or older.
