Getting Your Dog or Cat Out of Impound
City
of Moorhead ordinance 4-1-5, indicates that animals can not run at large.
If they are found unleashed and out of a fenced area of the residence,
they will be impounded and taken to the F/M Animal Hospital, located in
Moorhead, MN.
In order to get your animal out of impound you have to first come to
the Moorhead Police Department
and pay a fine. This can be paid during Moorhead Police Department regular
office hours of M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Animals are only released during
FM Animal Hospital business hours. FM Animal Hospital, (218) 236-9059,
is located on Hwy 75 S Moorhead by Casey's General Store and is open Monday-Wednesday-Friday
from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday.

A one-day grace period is given on the boarding charge if the dog is
impounded for more than one day. You must show proof of rabies if your
dog is unlicensed.
