Dog and Cat Licenses
Impound - Dog and Cat Ordinances
Licensing your dog or cat is a city ordinance in Moorhead, MN. This license
must be renewed every year. The Police Department begins to sell new licenses
for the coming year on October 15th.
To properly license your pet, you need the following:
Current rabies vaccination certificate from your veterinarian
$2.00 if your pet is spayed or neutered, $5.00 if they are not.
If your pet is found running at-large by a Community Service Officer
or a Police Officer without a proper license, there is a $50.00 fine.
This fine is in addition to charges for impounding and boarding your pet.
You can license your pet at the Moorhead Police Department Monday through
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For your convenience, download the Pet
Registration form, complete and bring it into the Moorhead
Police Department. We will issue your pet a license tag and number.
