Junior Police Academy

The Moorhead Police Department is planning to host a Junior Police Academy this summer.  This has been a successful program since it began in 2007 and is meant for those who are over the age of 12 and no longer eligible to attend the Moorhead Police Summer Youth Program.

This program is for youth ages 13-18. There is no cost for this Academy and lunch will be provided.

If your son or daughter is interested in law enforcement as a possible career in their future this is an excellent opportunity for them to take part in this summer.

The Academy will run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays on the following dates for two weeks each:

  • The Academy will run June 7, 9, 10, 15, 17, and 18.

The Academy will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ten students will be allowed for each Academy class.  The Academy will be held at the Moorhead Armory (1002 15th Ave N)

Some of the education/training will include:

  • History of law enforcement
  • Knowledge of use of force
  • Evidence detection/collection
  • Knowledge of traffic stops
  • CPR/First aid
  • K-9 demonstration

An application is required for the Academy and one can be picked up at the Moorhead Police Department or you can submit one on-line by clicking here.  For more information please contact Officer Brian Dahl at (218) 790-4259.
